Hey, my friend. I’m Ashley (Ash), and as you can tell, “Shalee” is a play on my name because down here in the South, people pronounce my name as “Ash-sha-lee” instead of “Ash-lee.” So if it ain’t broke, don’t you dare try to fix it?!
A passionate writer and book lover who lives for the love of words…
I created Shalee Books because I wanted to share my true love for literature with others who are just like me. It’s a special place where I can talk about books and my love for writing and journaling.
I know that all three won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but those who have a love for at least one of them are more than welcome to enjoy the ride.
Who Is Shalee?
Shalee is me, and the name started when I was a very young girl. I loved how people mispronounced my name growing up, “Ah-sha-lee”. And since I started writing at a very young age, the name seemed fitting.
My favorite pastimes growing up were writing anything and everything. And I loved writing in cursive every chance I got. No matter if it was my name, a short story, song lyrics, or what events happened that day, I was always allowing my mind to wander.
The best thing about it was capturing all of those imaginative “possibilities, factual events, lyrics, and vibes” from my head, onto a blank page.
And decades later, I am still doing the same thing. For most of my life, there has always been a journal somewhere nearby to write out my feelings and events with every detail. So yes, I am a huge advocate for journaling.
Currently working as a freelance writer, I love writing content for the web. But recently, I’ve been having an itch for writing a book. What kind of book? Who knows. It’s all in God’s timing.
As a professional writer and tech nerd, I have written blog posts, articles, web copy, and social media copy for many industries.
What To Expect?
Being that I’m an avid reader of different genres, you can expect book reviews and recommendations from many authors who are both popular and hidden gems.
You can also expect content to help you on your journaling and writing journey. Just remember that you don’t have to be the perfect writer. The point is to get your mental out on paper and whatever you do with that next is completely up to you.
Lastly, you can expect content that helps support you in creating a safe and cozy space in your home or wherever to read or write. Whether it’s a book nook, the corner of your living room, a big comfy reading chair, or the desk, you can find them here.
