I read this book earlier this year but I gotta run this one back. Somebody’s Wife by Robbi Renee is a grown and sexy book that is strictly for the mature audience.
Once I finished this book back in May 2024, I was thinking about it for months. I mean, obviously, because we are now in October.
Robbi’s storytelling abilities on Somebody’s Wife are so impressive. It was the first book I read from Robbi and it made me read her other books, “Somebody’s Forever” and “Foreplay“.
Here are the 3 reasons why I am re-reading this book for a second time.

Somebody’s Wife
By: Robbi Renee
The Story Was Relatable
Being that I am a black woman who fell in love with my high school/college sweetheart, I related to the backbone of this story. Robbi created a setting based around an HBCU college and that culture was strong in this book.
It involves sorority sisterhood, taboo educator/collegue hookups, unhappy marriages, keeping up a perfect life image, and so much more. The plot is juicy and so are the spicy scenes.
The main character is a beautiful, curvy black woman but her husband just doesn’t appreciate her. It’s almost as if he got bored with her but it’s truly his loss.
The Drama Was Addicting
From teen pregnancy to a failing marriage, to the cheating, the taboo mental sex fantasies, the “I really wanna leave my husband but shouldn’t” drama is just too good.
But when you find a man who loves you for who you are and not just because you are the face of the school is special. And the main character will realize that but she’s afraid to jump. And, I don’t blame her because she’ll risk everything if she leaves.
Yet, she will risk a whole lot more if she stays. I lived for the drama the first time I read this book, and I want to relive it again.
The Spicy Scenes Are Really Hot
If you are looking for a spicy book with a great plot and well developed main characters, this book is for you. So if you are easy to faint at heart, steer clear away because this one is caliente!
The scenes are so beautifully written and left no detail out. The way those two tangoed in the bedroom, on the patio, in offices, everywhere, was magical. It was almost as if I was witnessing their intimacy due to have descriptive those scenes are.
I initially gave this book the spice level of 5/5 because it was that darn good.
Til next time,
– Much Love, Ash ❤️
